Q What did you learn about writing as a practice or process as you created your letters to the editor? Consider all the steps you took including looking at examples of the genre, summarizing articles, finding sources, drafting, peer review, and revision. One of our threshold concepts for the course is that writing is a way of doing things in the world. Writing is a way of taking action. Consider the genre of letter to the editor. To what extent are these letters a way of taking action? How much impact do you think letters to the editor have in the public sphere? How have they impacted you and your point of view on an important issue? To what extent have you learned about writing as situation-based? How much was what you wrote based on what you understood about the audience, purpose, and context of your letters? PreviousNext
